What if?

There seems to be so much confusion today over what it really means to be a Christian. Some will say that it means you believe in the teachings of Jesus, or that you believe in the existence of Jesus, or that you follow the traditions of one church or another. But what if none of those are the answer? What if the world has infiltrated Christianity so deeply that many are being deceived into thinking they are safe, when in fact, they are far from it? What if you are living a lie, and have entrusted your eternal soul to a false hope? What if the Bible IS true? What if Biblical Christianity IS the only true hope for mankind? What if…?

What if?

Jesus said, “Ye must be born again”. The new birth, by the Holy Spirit, results in a new creature, a newborn child of God. Without this new birth, no one can see the kingdom of God. No one gets to enter who hasn’t been born into the family. What if this is true? Have you been born again?

Jesus said, “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me”.  Faith in Jesus and His Spirit within us empowers us to persevere in troubled times, but more importantly, it gives us the desire to serve the Lord with gladness; to willingly take up our cross and follow after Jesus.

Jesus said, “Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, will enter into the kingdom of Heaven, but they that do the will of my father which is in heaven.” James wrote that we are to be doers of the word, and not hearers only. Those who are born of God make an effort to practice righteousness, to apply what they learn from the word of God, from the Holy Spirit, and through their discipleship in Christ, to help them to grow more like Jesus every day. Although none are perfect or without sin, those born of God do not willingly practice sin without being chastised by our Father. There is visible growth, changes for the better, evident in the life of those born of God.

What if Jesus comes back today? Are you truly prepared to meet Him? Will you hear Him say, “Well done”, or “Depart from me”? You absolutely can know for sure that you are God’s child. You MUST be born again.  You must come to saving faith in Christ on His terms, not your own. You must surrender your will to the will of God who created you and gave His only Son in your place to pay for you sin and give you eternal life. You must recognize that your way is the way of the world, and is contrary to God’s way, and then repent and place all of your faith and trust in Jesus.

What if it really is that easy? Well, it is. So easy, and yet so many are deceived and lost. Still others know the truth but ignore it, hoping somehow all of this is wrong. What if it isn’t? What if Jesus is really your only hope? What if… ?
